Recent Trial – March 2022
Plaintiff alleged property damage, to include loss of family heirlooms, collectibles, and other irreplaceable items, as allegedly damaged by water leakage while living in defendant’s rental property. Plaintiff alleged three separate causes of action: negligence, premises liability, and intentional interference with a contractual relationship, as well as punitive damages. Prior to trial, defense made a statutory offer to compromise in the amount of $30,000. The plaintiff elected to proceed to trial, however, and asked the jury to award approximately $120,000. The jury deliberated for one hour before it returned a defense verdict.
